Does anyone know of a 'spray paint' substance that would be spray'd on to wood (rafters and roof sheathing) to stop/kill and then inhibit the growth of the mildew & mold? Had a roofing company out the other day, and the guy said they had something of that sort. Sprays on - soaks into the wood - and then looks like I painted the wood afterwards. Don't just want a cover-up material, but was told it was an option instead of replacing entire roof. Any info is very useful. Thanks.

There isn't any paint/primer that is capable of killing mildew or mold. Many believe that primers like Kilz will stop mildew growth but that isn't true. Bleach water is the most effective cleaner for mildew but it must be rinsed off. Once the mildew is removed, primer and/or paint will stop or slow it's return. Mold/mildew needs moisture and heat to grow.
This mold/mildew is on the underside of your roof? bottom side of decking and the rafters? I assume that was caused by roof leaks. Unless the source of moisture is removed, whatever you do will only be a short term fix.

You would first spray Foster 40-80 to kill then come back with Foster 40-51 to keep from coming back.
