I had an ADT system installed yesterday. It replaced a 30 yr old system hit by lightening. My last one had a key. Turn on, turn off. Worked great. It made a chirping sound when I came back home to remind me to turn off the alarm. This new system has 2 3000's and 2 2000's. I have touch keys, and a remote. It took all day to reinstall and the very nice installer was out of time to explain the system. The user manual is obtuse and I'm pretty good. It ain't there. i can guess as to shortcuts and panic etc.
I can't stand all the chimes and talking and he programed them off. What I would like is the chime or beep or buzz when I re-enter. All programing I try that accomplishes that also turns on the EXIT beeping, which is 60 seconds of annoying sound throughout the house. It surely will waken my grandkids when they are here. I have learned that if I turn on 'away' there is no beeping, but with a cat and dog and occasionally kids, I would really liketo simply turn on just entry sounds if that's possible. I dl the p15 manual, but I don't see that. It's 88 pages

Anyone think it can be done without cutting speaker wires?

You need a programming manual and access to programming. You can turn off the exit beeps in feild 37. If you have a second or third keypad you can shut off the sounds in feild 190 and 191. You can control the door chime by using code + 9. Good luck.

I'm assuming that you have a Safewatch 3000, which is a modified Vista 20p.

Go to program: [installer code] + 8 + 00
*37 0 (this turns off "audible exit warning"
*99

The entry warning should still work.

Given that this is an ADT model, you may not be able to turn this exit warning. They often have such anti-false alarm features turned on and hardcoded into the system so that they cannot be disabled.

thanks to both of you. i downloaded the 20P manual and got the installer from ADT on the phone. field 37 would be great but is not usable on the ADT version. I tried and it says not used and EE.

Any other ideas. It seems ADT believes exit alarms improve security. I can have both or neither

Like Ron said you might not be able to turn it off because its a special vista 20 panel for ADT.Try checking the main circuit board to verify we are talking about the correct panel type you should be able to find the model # on it.

Thanks again

I checked it all over. The little chip says 3001 v7.2. On the board there is alot but in one area there is a P20 3

Basically, among the minor modifications that ADT has made to these things is hard coding most of the anti-false alarm features. It yam what it yam...

Thanks once more.

I've decided to try to turn on the E/E sounds, But i am not exactly sure what needs to be done. I got the installers code from him. He had walked me thru turning off all the sounds. I know it was at 190 & 191, but alot of key strokes and repeats. Now if I turn them on, I think that STAY exiting does not beep (onlyAWAY) so if I use that alot I will avoid the 60 secs of noise.

This sound ok. Can I do that? How? I have the installers manual for 3000EN and even tho it has *37 wrong I do think it's 190/191 I need to change 190 entry 2 to 0 and see if I can turn chime, arm/disarm off somewhere else. Is there some place else? I may call ADT tomorrow when i have time

thanks

bill

That only works for keypad addresses of 17+. Keypads addressed as 16 always have all sounds turned on. The only way you can turn off all sounds is to change the 16 keypad address to one of the other addresses that are not currently used.

Otherwise, yes, you have the right idea.
