Hi! I live in Philadelphia, and I want to transplant some tall bamboo (12-15 feet tall)from the ground into very large planters. How deep should the wooden planters be? What should they be filled with - just regular soil? Also is it alright to transplant in early November or should I wait until spring?

Many bamboo have deep roots so I would use as deep a pot as possible. Without knowing what type of bamboo you have I am not sure if it will survive if the roots freeze. Once you move the bamboo to a pot there is a good chance the soil & roots will get much colder than when they were planted in the ground.
