I'm going to be adding two registers and two returns to our main floor (~840 sq. ft open). It's a 42' x 20' room. These are going to be for woodstove heat in the basement. The basement ceiling has fiberglass batting, and MDF sheeting, so the heat isn't getting to the main floor like I would like. Any recommendations as to what size registers/returns I should use for this floor size?

Thanks, the post is a little hard to decipher, but still not sure what that has to do with what size register/return I need? Should I just stick with a standard 4x10 or 4x12? I know how to locate where I need to put them, I'm just curious as to what size is recommended for adequate convection.

With heat rising from not forced air wont make much difference but in bath prob 4x10 the rest 4x12 with 2 4x12 ina larger room you can cut one off at register if needed
