Hello,
I have a new home, unfinished basement that I am finishing and trying to install my first interior doors.
I am looking for some tips. i have tried doing 2 of them so far and I am constantly getting binding at the bottom hinge side. sometimes it seems as though the door is almost pivoting on the bottom hinge.(so when the door closes and is nearly closed it almost pulls the opposite way on the hinge. if that makes sense) i have verified the hinges are installed correctly. Also, when i start the install i am starting on the hinge side and would then work from hinge to top to strike side. Anyone know why they are binding at the bottom and give a newbie any tips.
Thanks.

I am assuming the bottom hinge is not installed backwards. Are these prehung units? If not, the hinges may be installed too far inward or the hinge side case is bent. It must be perfectly straight and shimmed accordingly and fastened. Just a few things to consider.

Thanks for the reply.
Boy I don't think it is bent at all. i will double check and also try possibly moving the hinge in or out. The bottom hinge is where the problem is though you believe and not one of the others causing the issue?
Is the process I am following correct?
Can i use 2 inch brad nails to secure it?
thanks again.
