I am making an outdoor project that needs to survive the weather.
I need a stiff (about 1/4") panel.
Weight and stiffness are the major concerns.
I looked at a PVC panel, but it is too flexible, a shower stall type board is too heavy, corrugated plastic panels, are too weak.
Any suggestions??
Thanks
David

This is for the ground board for a telescope that will live outside in the weather. Normally I would use plywood, but it won't survive living outside.
Hope this forum is appropriate.

Welcome to the forums.

A more in-depth description of what you are doing and what you need would be helpful, but I'm assuming that you need a platform to mount your telescope on.

Something along the lines of a PVC panel (lexan is stronger than PVC, but still flexible) on a grid of supporting joists??

Agree, Lexan in 1/4" will be a little pricey, but if it is a permanent mount for the scope, you will certainly fasten it down. Predrill your holes and use stainless screws with stainless washers. Fastening the scope to the lexan and deck should go through all layers, as the lexan may not be able to keep it from tilting in high winds without cracking.

Thanks all. I will try the PVC.
