We have a Weil McLain gas boiler (CGA Gold), a HoneyWell gas valve and a Effikal RVGP draft
Vent. I noticed yesterday that the pilot light is erratic at times, normal then races a we bit,
where the flame gets a slight surge every 10 20 seconds etc. wondering what could be
causing this. everything else works fine, this happens just at idle.
Maybe someone out there has seen this before, I was thinking maybe draft coming down, or
thermocouple beginning to go, maybe some kind of an adjustment or something, but I see no
adjust and the flame looks a good blue. Its around 4 yrs old. I thought it was pilot less and
like a idiot I never turned off the gas valve during the summer.

Odds are the pilot burner needs to be disassembled and the pilot burner and pilot orifice cleaned. Some pilot orifices need to be replace because they can't be cleaned properly.

This does not have an intermittant pilot system set off by a sparker? It doesn't have the orange spark plug wire coming off the Honeywell, on down to the pilot area? If not, it must be pretty ancient. We have a few Weil-McClain boilers that are getting antique, and even they have either HSI or intermittent pilot.
If it did, I'd say, besdies what SP says - to also check to see if voltage quivers between PV and PV/MV(common), on the gas valve, when the pilot comes on. An analog test meter would be better for such a test.
