I have an alarm system that is not currently in use--not connected to any monitoring company, not even being armed for local alerts. (I have never used the system since buying the house.) The system does apparently support a hardwired smoke alarm which I am happy to continue to use. My problem is that every time I need to turn off one or two particular circuit breakers (#17 and #19) related to something else I'm doing in the house, a loud alarm will sound, drawing concern from the neighbors. The alarm will sometimes stay on indefinitely, and sometimes it will go off after 5 minutes or so. I assume this is an unintended sequence of events, not by design.

I'm wanting some help in how I would go about disconnecting the audible alarm. The company that put in the alarm is no longer in business.

What alarm is it? Brand wise?

Can't you just follow the wire for the siren back to the main panel and disconnect it?
