I have a 87 chevy silverado K 1500.After the truck runs a good bit and I shut it off when I go to start it back up again it just fast clicks and wont start. If I wait awhile it will start. The battery is fine so does it sound like a starter problem and what is the best way to find out if this is the source

How did you test the battery?? Was it load tested or just the static voltage was checked??? What is the battery & what are the results of the load test??? Roger

#1 check battery terminals to make sure they are clean and tight
#2 check both terminals on the starter to ensure they are tight

if the above checks out ok then from here it sounds like a starter solenoid, small canister mounted on the starter. You can replace just the solenoid or have the unit rebuilt. I would stay away from the cheep ones from most chain parts stores, unless you enjoy putting them on. A new gm starter comes with a lifetime warranty and well lifetime price also.
