The question mark in the date means that it was built in 69 or 79 or 89 as far as I know there is no way to tell which. Please post some pictures of the engine.

If this is the engine that was originally on that snowblower, it is a 1969 or 1979. The lack of engagement handles on the handle bars tell me it is pre-1989. The size of the gas tank tells me it is a 7 or 8 hp engine.

my great grand father (rest in peace) gave this to me and i remeber him saying it lasted up until the 80s so its not 1989 its origanal color was white i have had the engine completely disasembled so if you need anything that could help you identify it just let me know i could take it apart with my eyes closed

After reading this and looking again at the photos, the engine is a 1969. What gave it away is the so called "primer" that is actually just an extra choke, the button on the carb that you push. It is either a 7 or 8 hp. It has points.
