Looking for some input. I want to vent gables on my brick home with architectural design versus louvered vent. I've seen homes that just have holes in bricks (or actual brick missing) in some pattern but I don't know what's happening behind that. Sure theres netting behind the brick but what about the sheathing. Are holes cut to match the brick? Seems to simple. Anyone have some help for me please? Thanks!

Welcome to the forums! Bricks all the way up? You would be better off installing ridge vents for ventilation. Gable vents don't tend to evacuate all the hot air without a cross breeze, whereas ridge vents will operate at almost 100%. You won't have to tear up your brickwork either.
