I have a 99 Dodge 4X4 that has had the transmission rebuilt 3 times now and apparently needing so again. I am thinking of replacing it with another tranny instead this time as it is quite evident (to me at least) that this one is flawed. At this time right now the only one I can find in my area is out of a 2WD. My question is, will the transfer case bolt on in place of the tailpiece or is there more to it than that. Changing the tailpiece shaft etc. Or will it just not work..

no, a 2wd has a longer/different out put shaft.

Thank you NEWTOFTA. That was what I was looking for. A straight simple answer... Will keep looking for a tranny then.. Thanks again.
