We have a gas hot water heater that we keep having to "reset". I will just stop working and a red light will be on, but if we just unplug and plug it back in, it works again. We seem to have to do this more often all the time, so I am sure a part needs replaced. What part would this be? The heater is only 5 years old, however when we purchased it, it didn't come with a manual, so we are stumped. Please help!

I would start by checking the vent. You say it's gas and that you have to plug it in so I'm assuming it's a power vent type gas water heater. I have never had an actual power vent storage tank type heater but I know my tankless unit will shutdown if it senses improper airflow due to blockage in the suction or discharge vent pipes.
If it isn't the vent take lefty's advice, I'm sure the mfg manual has a trouble shooting section that will tell you exactly what the light error means.
