I recently bought a foreclosure with a Protection One alarm system installed. Not wanting to sign a contract, and using all the great advice in the forums, I disconnected the supervision and have the alarm up and running.

Since I don't have a contract with supervision (and I don't have a phone line installed - only a cell) I'd like to put a time duration on the alarm siren. The idea would be that if the alarm went off, the siren would sound for a fixed time and then shut off not aggravating the neighbors. Suggestions, or ways to program the panel?

Unless they did something strange, the siren will already be set to time out in 4 or 8 minutes (I don't remember which is the default). Go into programming and enter #33 and compare the value displayed to the *33 listing in the Vista 20p manual.

Thanks so much for the advice. That would be easier that installing a time delay.

One more question: What does "100 check" mean? In the manual it indicates that this is: "commuication between control and a wireless reciever is interuppted where xx is the device address. It will not be possible to arm the system with this condition present."

It is possible to arm the system. I have four door wirless sensors and the alarm goes to ready and arms. I pulled the phone line supervision but putting that back doesn't fix the 100 check display. How can I find out what this is?

I'm betting that they have "RF Jam detection" turned on. In system programming enter *22 0 to turn it off.

(It's a well-intentioned feature that is a pain in the neck in a modern home full of broadcasting wireless devices. Any crook that knows enough to intentionally jam the wireless frequencies of a residential alarm isn't going to be stopped by this level of alarm system, anyway)
