Hi everyone -
I just replaced the drain pump on my front loader after the old one completely died. The old one was filled with water in the part where the motor is. After running the new one for a partial rinse cycle, the new pump has water in the same area. Is this normal? Is the water actually getting to the motor itself or is this just a compartment where water can go? I wouldn't think it would be since there is a gasket behind the propellers on the pump.
Any advice will be appreciated. Thanks!

model number is 110.45462501.
The area I'm talking about is the area to the left of the propeller -- is this the impeller that you are talking about?

The only reason I was concerned is that the one we took out also had this water, and the place we ordered the part from said that the part commonly fails when it gets water into the pump. Not exactly very specific, considering how large the entire pump assembly part is :)
The more I look at it, however, it seems as this area is expected to have water in it, and it's the area above that houses the actual motor. Does this sound correct?
Thanks!

Hmm... this doesn't sound as good then. There is most definitely water to the right of the impeller area. Not a large amount, but some is in there. If you take a look at the pic I posted, the water line is in the bottom third of the brownish cylinder.
The thing is, after looking at it, I can't see how there wouldn't be water in it. The electronics for the motor are above the cylinder, under the white plastic cap. That area is completely dry, as far as I can tell.
The pump is definitely working at the moment -- I'm just worried about long term damage. This part was $80 and took almost two weeks on special order to get. I really don't want to go through all this again a few months down the road when the part dies again.
Thanks again,
dennis
