I am in the market for a backpack blower in about the $300 range +-. The blower will be used for leaf blowing on open area lawn and in beds. The two models I am considering are the Stihl BR380 and the Echo PB 500T, but am open to others if the dealer is near by.

Sounds like you sights are set on the right stuff. I think you'll be pleased either way. I generally lean towards Echo when it comes to blowers for power vs. weight and performance.
