Hello, I have a Maytag Neptune Washer Model #MAH4000AWW. First, I'd like to give a brief history about this machine. Ever since we first bought & first started using it the door lock light would not come on but, the delay wash light came on instead. So we tried using the delay wash & the door lock light came on instead of the delay light until the door locked then both lights were on. So, I just assumed the factory got the wires mixed up in the control panel nothing to worry about & not really a need to call for warranty service. I was purchasing the extended warranty for the first 3 or so years from Maytag, but it got too expensive to continue & I dropped it about 2 or 3 years ago. Now, we have the following problem. All cycles run fine except the spin cycle. When it's in the spin cycle, it drains & turns back & forth as if it were still in the wash cycle. I've tried all spin cycles & they all do the same. Also note, the delay light I mentioned above does not light up anymore when the machine is running. Could this be a problem I can fix myself? I welcome any feedback. Thank you in advance. -Rich...

could be the infamous door lock wax motor. check for burn marks on the main control board in the console. dont suggest spending a lot of money on this washer. it has many know problems

Control board is about $175, and wax motor is about $20. Both are common problems. You may fall under their warranty, but you'd better hurry and check it out soon. I've had one for over 10 years and that's the only thing that has gone wrong so far. You'll see the resistor burn on the control board. If so, it is toast.

Another thing it could be is the motor control board and motor, Look for a burnt resistor lower part of board toward back, Board is located inside washer on left front side. I think parts about 300 but I would not repair it. That washer has many, many known problems.

This is interesting. To have pros be very adament that the unit is no good. I thought all companies that mass produce something, run them through torture tests for like a million hours, or something. What are some of the other issues(that Chandler has not seen - yet?), that beleager this machine over time?

Washer is very repairable if you want to spend and spend on it, Otherwise it is junk
