I have an older Hitachi 50V500A LCD rear projection TV where the majority of the screen has a big red 'blotch'(the screen color is mostly red as if it's burned in). I've adjusted the video settings and just changed the lamp. Problem is still there. Any ideas on what it is or if it's something I can fix, or does it require repair.

Its the light engine gone bad. I replaced mine a few years ago. A lot of people talked Hitachi into providing a new one and had to pay for labor. I ended up buying a rebuilt for about $500. Do a search for the 50V500 on the web, lots of info out there.
