The tub/shower combo's in our home are the original tubs installed when the home was built and they are very old and cracking. They are one piece fiberglass units. The tubs are the standard size which replacing one would not be an issue except the doorways are only 23 inches wide. I can only gain about an inch removing the molding on the door.
Does anyone know of a tub that will fit through this size door?

If you were to remove the door and all the casing you would gain up to 26" of width. Maybe enough to get the tub in sideways. You won't get a tub/shower unit in at all, so forget that. They were sat on the subflooring and the house built around them. If you can get a tub in the enlargened doorway, you could install concrete backer underlayment on the walls and tile the walls. Looks great and not too co$tly. Let us know if you want to tackle that and we can help.
