Hello everyone.
Trying to replace our current thermostat with a programmable one. Current tstat is a Carrier TSTATCCNHP01-B and the new one is a Honeywell RTH7500D. We have a Carrier Heat Pump with emergency/auxiliary heating (model 50Jz-030---311--).
The terminals on the Carrier tstat are as follows and the ones with wires connected are marked with an **
Do Not Use
R **
Y/Y2 **
G **
C **
W/W1 **
S2
S1
O/W2 **
Y1
(Not Labled)
B
The Honeywell has the following terminals labeled for use with a heat pump:
C
G
Y
O/B
Rc
R
Aux
E
L
Here's the Honeywell manuel. (http://customer.honeywell.com/techlit/pdf/69-0000s/69-1730.pdf)
Rc and R have a jumper connecting them.
Some connections are obvious, but the O/W2 wire and the W/W1 have me a bit confused. I don't want to hook it up incorrectly and then screw something up, but then again, this seems like a project that I should be able to do on my own. Seems ridiculous to pay $60+ for the tstat and then whatever a company might charge to come out and hook it up.
If you need any other info let me know. Thanks in advance for any help!
EDIT:
And if it helps, I believe this is the manuel for the Carrier tstat I want to replace:

Yes, there are actually two wires not being used.
One is a tan wire that looks like it has been stripped (maybe used before?)
The other is a black wire.

Ok, put black on E, and go outside and wire black to W2. If there happen to be a jumper between W1 and W2 outside on the unit, remove it.
If you don't have a jumper on the W's outside, let me know.

Will these connections be behind a panel on the front (side?) of the outside unit?
I'll have to tackle this when I get home from work tomorrow.... thanks for the help so far!

From what I can tell from the manual, it's on the front right.
When you do hook up the E---W2, turn the t-stat into Emergceny heat. See if you are getting any heat out of the vent.. May take a few minutes to get warmed up. If it don't warm up, go back outside and see if the W2 hooks up to anything.. If not, then just undo the wire, and add a jumper between Aux and E at the t-stat.
On the t-stat set up menu,
170-9
180-0
190-0
240-3(If it shows up)
270-3
Rest you can figure out. Ask if you have questions.

I just opened the outside unit up and couldn't really make out what was going on in there. I didn't see any real labels to help distinguish what's what.
Does this mean I'm probably stuck?

Follow the low voltage wire going into the unit. From what I see in the manual, should be a block or something like that where the t-stat wires hook up to.
