One of the handles on a french door in my house snapped off; It looks like I can't "fix" it, I'll have to replace the whole side unit (deadbolt/lock and handle). Local hardware stores don't carry anything like this, looks like some stuff is available on the internet but I want it to swap out nicely with what is there already. I don't want to buy both "sides" of the door hardware, and it isn't that important that they match in style/color exactly, but I don't know how to find out if what I am looking at on the internet will fit what I am removing. Some of the sites talk about the hardware being "door configuration #6" etc. but then don't provide any reference to what that means. Will I just have to bite the bullet and buy a whole new left and right side hardware and end up probably redrilling the doors? I don't know who manufactured the doors to begin with and didn't see any identiying marks on the old hardware.

Pictures are probably going to be required. http://forum.doityourself.com/electrical-c-d-c/400914-how-put-pictures-your-post.html

A good local locksmith would be able to provide help as well, but would probably be more costly.
