I just want to by saying thanks to the knowledgeable users here. For the first time after I've moved into my house I decided to turn back on the security system (that's been off for 3 years since I moved in).

Using the threads here I was able to figure out the installer code and change the master code. Now though I need to add sensors as right now it only has 2 doors, a motion, and 1 window all wired. However, my questions arise from that I don't have the skills or desire to install more wired sensors and would prefer to add wireless.

-I found the PC5132-433 module to give me wireless capabilities on ebay for ~$45. Which would let me get more wireless 433mhz window sensors, etc. to my existing system.

-Also right now I'm using the PC1555RKM panel, and would like to upgrade it to something more modern, so I've read that the PK5500 is a direct replacement correct? Which is much newer and run $60-100.

So I would be looking at $100-150 to upgrade the keypad and add wireless capabilities with this path but I've seen some keypads that have wireless receiver built into them...are there any models that I could drop in my current system that might be cheaper/same cost?

-Last question, is there any immediate benefit to upgrading the control board to the newer PC1616 (which I've read is the 1555 replacement)? If there is I might as well buy the kits out there that run ~$150 that include the new board, keypad, etc. Thanks for any input.

As far as I can tell, the newer keypads like the RFK5500 (the one with the built in receiver) are backwards compatible to the older models, like the 1555.

There are a few keypad features that only work with the new panels, but they are minor things.

The 1616 isn't really that much different from the one you now have. The 1832 is a real upgrade in capabilities and features.
