Hi,
I'd like to replace an old chandelier hanging in our foyer with a new one. I've hung new chandeliers over easily accessible places - ie: dining room table, so its not the electric work I'm not sure about.
Rather, the space is an open, two story ceiling. We have 9' ceilings so its really high.
So, dumb question: other than a really tall ladder, or some scaffolding, is there any other trick or approach to getting up there?
I have access to the attic right above the current fixture but dont have a ladder high enough - and not sure I'd want to climb up there.
Just trying to see if there's an alternate approach so that I can keep this project a "DIY"!

If I told you how I use to handle that situation I'd have OSHA at my door. You may be able to rent a small lift. That would be safest but if you are afraid of heights hiring it done may be best.

:D Ha! i beleive you. Ok, sounds like I'll have to get someone else in here to do the work. Just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something simple. thanks!

The only other option I know of is a chandelier lift that will lower it to the ground. Kind of a winch like affair. I believe these are installed before the fixture is hung.

We had the same, 18 ft high in the foyer. Rented a ladder & probably wouldn't do it again. Much too high.
