My Tecumseh engine leaks gas out of the muffler as soon as I try to start it. I checked the valves and they don't seem to be stuck open. Any help would be appreciated.

Could possibly be the caburator leaking fuel. Check your oil, if it smells like gas and is over full, the carb is leaking fuel. It will either need rebuilt or replaced. You can try and clean it. But more than likely the needle and seat are leaking fuel.

I don't know what engine you have, but if yours has a metal float, take it off and shake it by your ear. If you hear gas sloshing in it, the float is no longer floating. It will need replacing. Otherwise, the needle and seat are leaking.
