Hi, I cut the hot water loop and installed a water heater. Is there a way to disconect part of the aquastat so that it calls for heat only? Even though theres no water going to coil it still comes on even though thermostat not calling.

When you say you "cut the hot water loop", what exactly do you mean? Do you mean that you added another zone to your heating system and installed an indirect water heater?

What boiler do you have, and how old is it?

Reason for asking, often when a boiler has spent it's life as a 'warm start' system, when you convert it to cold start it may begin to leak from between the sections.

There are of course ways to modify an aquastat, but when you do that you void the UL listing on the device. For that reason, we really shouldn't talk about it. Homeowners insurance companies won't like that. If there's a tragedy (say a fire), and they happen to discover that the a'stat has been modified, they are within their rights to deny claims. They may not discover it... but it IS a gamble you would be taking.

The most expensive way to handle it is to fit a new cold start aquastat, but then if the boiler starts weeping when it's cold, you would have to put the old one back on.

Is your boiler oil, or gas fired?

Needed to make this heat only because I cut out coil and installed wh. Relay still calling for hot water. I turned low limit all the way down and the dif to 10. When you disconect blue wire it dosnt work at all.

That's nice... but what's your question?

And didn't you say earlier that you had an 8124 aquastat?

You need to change the aquastat to one designed for a cold start application.
