I currently have an old Coleman 7 wire thermostat (it has 9 terminals 2 unused) running my heat pump system and I would like to change it out, but I'm not sure which wires go where. The Hunter model 44360 thermostat says it will run a heat pump but only has 6 terminals! HELP!

Here are the terminals and wire colors if it will help for the Coleman thermostat

R - RED
G - GREEN
X - BLACK
W2 - WHITE
O - ORANGE
L - GRAY
Y - YELLOW
E - NC
B - NC

The Coleman thermostat has 3 switches and 2 lights on it.

SW1 - Heat / Off / Cool
SW2 - Fan On / Auto
SW3 - Norn / Emerg

LT1 - Aux. heat (Blue)
LT2 - Emerg. heat (Red)

Most of the time none of the lights are on when the heater kicks on. If you turn the thermostat up the blue light will come on and then go out after a while. My concern is the Hunter thermostat I have doesn't have all the features I need to run my system correctly.

Here are the terminals on the Hunter

G
RC
RH
WB
Y0
Y1

And it only has 2 switchs

SW1 - Heat / Off / Cool
SW2 - Fan On / Auto

I'd spend a few more bucks and get a better thermostat. I have the Honeywell VisionPRO TH8320U models, and they will run virtually any heat pump system.

THE ONLY THING I SEE ABOUT THIS T-STAT IS O/B TERMINAL ON MOST T-STATS WHICH IS ENERGIZED IN HEATING OR COOLING . If you use this I would call tech number and ask about this. The Hunter Technical Support Group is available from 7 am to 7 pm CST M-F and 8 am to 5 pm Saturday. They may be reached toll-free at 1-888-830-1326.

RC and RH jumper together at stat = Red wire
G = Green wire
WB = White wire
YO = Orange wire
Y1 = Yellow wire
X = COMMON NOT NEEDED AS YOU WILL BE CHANGING BATTERYS BLACK WIRE CLIP EXPOSED WIRE BACK TO
