Hi

I'm designing a lighting lay out for an 18 hole miniature golf course. I know what I want on each hole and roughly where each light will be placed. I'd like to know how a bit more about the wiring and linking of all the lights.

Do all of these have to be wired to one central terminal or can they stand alone (I don't mind having to turn on a few switches).

I assume they'll have to come to some sort of junction in order to be mains connected.

We'll be using solar LEDs on many of the holes (I live in year round sun!) Does anyone have experience of these i.e. do they give a constant pleasing light - will need to run for 6 hours each day and be reliable.

As you can probably gather, I'm a complete electrical novice so I'll be hiring someone to do it for me (is this sacrilege on a DIY forum?!?). I'd just like a rough overview of how such a project would be wired. (any sort of landscaping lighting diagram showing the connections and main feature e.g. transformers, junction box would be great!) It may prompt a re-design of the course, but I'd also like to appear moderately knowledgable when dealing with quotations from contractors.

Any help you can offer would be greatly appreciated

Cheers

Welcome to the forums. This is mostly a North American forum but we have a few pros familiar with international systems and with out door lighting in particular so hang in there and someone will be along who can help you. Have you decided what type of of lights if any you plan to use in addition to LEDs? What voltage is available? What will the distance be between each light be? How far from the power source will the furtherest light be? What wattage lights?

Honestly, your questions poses too many questions to be answered in a forum like this.

This almost sounds like a homework assignment.

It is odd that you would ask at a free forum when if you are dealing with a real project the money involved would be great.

I noticed that you are from Thailand so I know you have 230 volt network { I am sure you may still have couple 120 volt network still around }

But this kind of scope that is not a normal item it will show up and Really I strongly suggest that you should talk to the lighting designer so they can able suggest the proper luminaire and type and how bright it will be.

Most solar LED is not super bright unless it have battery bank to handle pretty good wattage luminaire so you will see the cost factor between the two.

The high wattage LED or Metal Halide seems the best choice beside CFL { Compat Flourscent Light } those three lamp source are good for your useage but again check with your lighting designer they may have few couple items it can be used for it.

Merci.
