Replacing a Carrier mercury switch thermostat (HH07AT215) with a Honeywell RTH3100C on a Heil heat pump model PHM330K00A1. Forgot to turn off all electrical power before disconnecting old thermostat wires. New thermostat is not working. It may be a fuse but do not know where it is on the unit. Any help would be appreciated.

Turn off all breaker(s) to your unit and check in the blower access panel.

Found a 3.2 amp fuse part # HH832ZB001A. It is not a conventional fuse. It does not have an element that your can see is burned. I found a picture of the item on the web and the fuse in the picture is identical to how I found the fuse on the Heil unit. I do not think that it had popped.

A continuity test would verify this. If you had a common wire in use on the old stat, it's probably the fuse though.

Your new stat requires C (common)

Color codes vary.
Does the fan run when you jumper R (24volt power) to G (fan) ?

No fan when jumping from R to G.
I had labeled the 6 wires that were on the old unit. I connected the wires to the corresponding connection on the new unit. The only difference is the W2 from the old unit is now AUX on the new unit as well as a jumper from AUX to E.

The unit has 2 fuses. The second fuse is the blade type similar to what is used in autos. It was attached to one of the circuit boards and I did not notice it when I first looked. Fuse has been replaced and now have a working unit.
Thanks for all of your help.

I recommend matching the amperage rating. Autozone has 3 and 5 amp blade type fuses for 3 bucks a pack. Circuit boards are much more. I'm glad that you now have a working unit:thumbup:
