After reading much of this info, I tried the default code for setting the alarm of 1234 and lo and behold - it armed the system. Now, how the heck do I change this code to something else?

Also, my trouble light is on. How do I fix this?

Its about the same as a pc5010 panel. So just us your search engine like google and put in DSC 5010 user guide. U should find a PDF file to download and it will explain how to change codes and find troubles. good luck

Websearch using the phrase "DSC PC1555 installation manual".
You shoud get a PDF in the first 5 hits or so.

The code changing instructions is in the section on "Keypad Commands".

Press * 8, plus installer code. Installer code default should be 1555. Once in programming go to field 007. Press the new 4 digit code & then press # to exit programming.
