I am debating between using top take-offs w/ scoops to help channel air into my 6" and 8" ducts from the trunk. I have not been able to find much information on the effectiveness of the scoops so I don't know if they are worth the additional cost or hassle to fabricate.

I have a few runs that will be about 27' in length and include 2 elbows (plus the standard elbow to register transition) and am wondering if the scoops would help ensure proper air flow into the ducts from the trunk. The system will have dampers on every takeoff so balancing will be done when it's finished but I want to make sure the longest runs have the ability to get MORE air than they need and I can then just damper them down to balance.

Any info from the community would be beneficial.

Yes I always get spin-ins with scoops and dampers.
