My little girl spilt some water on her dressing table. Down one edge on the top the water must have seeped through and now it has blown. I don't know what the coating is that is on the mdf but how do I repair it? If I sand the mdf that has blown I think that it will level out but the top and edge are damaged - how do I repair, what do I use? Please help me, thank you.

This is basically particle board. It is not repairable. It's just compressed sawdust and glue. Once the compressed sawdust looses its integrity there is really nothing you can do. Top coating is probably melamine which is strictly a factory coating. Sand and paint might help a little and you can put a nice cloth over it to hide the damage but once it's damaged it's damaged.

I have used BONDO with much success. If you don't know what it is, well go to a automotive store and buy a small can and give it a try. Test a piece on some scrap wood first to learn how it works, READ THE INSTRUCTION, FOR SURE.

It sands very nice.
