I got the framing ready today for hanging this door,
26x76 old cedar door being reused.. nice looking old thing.. I hung its sister the other day and it came out so so.. not perfect but its the outside door for a shed so....
but this one will be an interior door to that same shed and I want it perfect.
One problem I have is having to dismantle the hinges to get some screws set and then heaving the door on to the hinges...hard way to go because you cant get even 1 screw per hinge set to hold it in place.
I am going to Home Depot tommorrow to get new hinges.
I would like to try the ball bearing type but would like any type that was designed to allow the installer to get at least 1 screw in while the hinge was intact and on the door and the door was all plumb and set in the jam. Maybe the metal plate sticks out past the rest of the hinge on 1 side or something like that..??
Anyone know what is available at HD or Lowes that fits this bill..???

Don't know what specialty hinge you want, but to help with the installation of the door, place shims under it and keep adding them until you get it the height you want. You can then install screws. Or you can take careful measurements and install the hinge halves then hang the door via the hinges. Don't forget the 3" screws in each hinge to keep it attached to the frame below the case molding.

if the door is closed the hinge is shut and you cant get at them. If the hinge plate on the jam side extended Past the normal width and came out to the edge and wrapped around the edge you could stay it with 1 screw and then open the door just a bit and get another screw in each hinge and then open it fully and screw in the rest of the screws. I would have guessed that something like that was available by now.....
