I'm building a partially sunken 8' planter using cement blocks along one edge of a concrete patio I'm currently building.
The outer exposed surface of the blocks will be finished with stucco or surface bonding cement.
Should the inside of this planter be treated or covered with some sort of waterproofing material? Or can I leave the blocks bare where it contacts moist soil?
I will be planting drought tolerant plants here so watering will be minimal at most and this area of the patio will not be exposed to rain either as there is a patio cover overhead.

Thank you!
