First, look at the lamp as though you were going to build it from scratch. What comes apart which would make the job easier? Most factory built jobs have a molded plug on the end of the wire. This is a clue that they started at the bottom and went up. The manufacturer usually pre wires in sections and then bolts the whole product together. Also, they usually use a wiring lubricant (available at most big box or hardware store) to ease the friction in bends. Don't forget to tie the two wire together to make a strain relief under the socket.

Use a stiff wire or electrician's snake to pull the lamp wire through the body of the lamp.

Or suck a small piece of cloth tied to 10 lb fishing line using a vacuum cleaner, then pull your wire. Sort of like using a rat in conduit pulling.
