I am going to be installing some sprinklers, borders, and laying sod. I am installing the borders that have spikes on it that you hammer in. Does the sprinkler head need to be right next to the border if it is not spraying that direction? I am asking because it looks like there might be a 6 inch gap or so between the border and the sprinkler head and the water is not spraying that way. I didn't know if maybe just from being close to the sprinkler if it will soak up some water or if I need to move the sprinkler so it is right up against the border since its not spraying that way. Any help or ideas would be appreciated.

Without seeing it I can only give you some guidelines.

1. Keep your sprinkler heads about 2-3" away from your edging. Over time virtually all edging I have ever seen seems to shift and move. Leaving a small gap allows future access to the head a lot easier if you ever have to dig it up again.

2. Before you go moving your sprinkler heads around, make sure its new spot will work---will it hit taller plants and not really get into the grass where you need it? That kind of thing to think about. Sometimes it helps to stand in the spot where it is, and then stand in the spot where you want it to be.

If you need to move it try a product called "swing pipe". I think you can now even get this at a big box store. Try to not go over 5-8' or you will lose so much pressure the head will not work well anymore.

I picked up some flexible pipe for my risers yesterday. This should help me get the sprinkler head closer to the border. Thanks for you help.
