Well (and that's a deep subject) I installed a new pressure switch a 40/60, new gauge and a second 85 gallon tank. Yesterday everything seemed fine this morning there was hardly any pressure. I drained the tanks and checked the pressure in the tanks thinking that it was set too high and that the tanks were probably empty which they were. The pressure did seem high so I drained off some air. Now one tank reads 37.5 and the other reads 37. This pressure seemed to change a little every time I read it. The new pressure gauge read about 30 lbs. Now the problem is that when I turned the pump back on it wouldn't shut off. After the pressure gauge passed 80 lbs I shut the pump off before it exploded.I'm glad the pump didn't go one in the middle of the night!!!I haven't touched the new pressure switch adjustments and it shut off at 60 lbs like it should have yesterday when I first turned it on. Why is it not shutting off now? Also when I turned the pump back on it started pumping even though the pressure was about 50 lbs at the gauge . It's not cutting in or out at the correct pressure.

Any chance some debris might have gotton up into the switch from the re-piping? just a thought

I was thinking about that tonight. It's a bear to take the switch off but I'll try tomorrow. I bought another new one so I can try that too if cleaning it doesn't work. One other thing to throw into the mix, the new large tank only seems to be filling up about a quarter of the way. I can hear it when I knock on the sides:madhell:

I switched out the new pressure switch for another new one and the problem was solved. Now on to the next problem concenring the two pressure tanks not filling. I'll start a new thread for that one.
