What are some good companies to use? Where do you get them Cheap. Is LED the way to go? Is it cheaper to buy new or retrofit? Are they only available in 6" cans?

Cheap and recessed LED seems to be a contradiction. One brand of retrofittable LED trims is running around $90 per 6". I would not want to install cheap LED lights and then be unhappy with the color or the light spread.

IIRC Progress has both a 4" and 6" LED trim. Halo and Juno also have LED recessed.

Cheap LED's are usually cheap quality. I really love Cree LED's. The LR6 that they make is really good. They are also dimmable which makes them worth the money.

The Halo LED new and conversion kits I have see are fantastic on light color and output. You would never know they are LED's The Price is also out of sight (about $125 each)

IMO, install a standard, Edison base, (normal light bulb socket) can. Then you will have all the options available to you because you know that all the bulb technologies will utilize that socket. Just like we have seen with CFL's and the retro fit kit posted above.
