I hired a handyman to install a new toilet. It works fine, but it runs, then shuts off, runs, then shuts off. All the time. Can't seem to get in touch with the handyman again. Imagine. Can I do something? Not very mechanical, but you would think I could fix this. Help!
Thanks.

Make sure the tube from the fill valve to the overflow isn't stuck down past the water level in the tank. It should be clipped to the top of the tube or held just at the top by some molded in grooves. If too deep it can cause water to be siphoned out of the tank.
Also, it could be the flush flapper..yes they can be bad even when new. You can put some food coloring in the tank..if you see it in the bowl..it could be the flapper.
Try those 2 things first
