I am remodeling my bathroom and installing a new vanity. The vanity is rectangular and will be positioned in one of the corners.
I have a simple question. I am replacing the floor molding. Do I install the molding behind the vanity then push the vanity up against the molding leaving a small gap between the vanity and the walls. This way, the counter could overhang the vanity by a 1/2" on all sides. Or do I push the vanity flush against the walls and end the molding at vanity. This way, the counter would be flush with the walls on two sides and overhang the vanity by 1" on the other two sides.
This may be a minor detail but I want to do it correctly. In advance, thanks for the help.

Place the vanity against the wall and run the moulding up to it. This is the practice I have experienced during cabinet installations. Otherwise, you would have a gap between the vanity and the wall, which I personally do not like. Good luck with your project.
