We're updating our kitchen before selling our house. The old owner built the kitchen cabinets out of knotty pine and then hung them up over this aqua blue marlite. The old owner then put contact paper over it. I can't remove the cabinets and am having them professionally painted. I'd like to do something with the marlite backsplash and need some info. Can you paint marlite? or tile over it? My thought was to install 1/4" bead board over it and nail it on. The surface of this stuff (marlite) is shiney and I don't know what would be the best solution. PLEASE help!
