I have an Ademco alarm . The display on the keypad reads OC. It was working fine for 10+ years and one day went OC. I called the alarm guy who said I need a totally new system for much $. I think that it is a bit of a scam and could be repaired.
The key pads are N59/6v1 and the system is a VS20 or vista 20 or N7525v3. I'm not sure which. It appears after several months that the battery has died too. I will replace it if there is a chance the system can be fixed...by me or an electrician.

OC means that communication between the keypad and the motherboard isn't working. To give you much more, we need to know wat _model_ your system is.
Simple test: connect the keypad directly to the terminals on the motherboard. This will determine if it's a wiring problem, or a hardware problem.

The bad battery is the source of your problem. It happens on older vista 20 panels & shows OC. Reason being, the bad battery draws too much power & causes all other devices to stop working because of the power deficiency. Replace the battery. Power it down by disconnecting the transformer & then power it up. Connect the battery after powering it up.
