Our fiberglass tub/shower is 35 years old and the fittings need to be replaced. Is it possible to do this from the front/inside of the tub rather than accessing the pipes etc. the normal way, from the back side? The back side is accessible only from the living room and presently there is a humungous floor-to-ceiling wall unit (full of stuff) standing where the cut would have to be made.

Would it be possible to cut a panel out of the fiberglass shower walll, make the replacements, then fit a new panel over the opening? Or what is the likelihood of finding a replacement for that whole end panel of the 35-yr-old tub?

fantanman,

Welcome to the forums.

Your chances are better of winning the lotto than they would be finding a new panel for the surround.

Plan on emptying the unit in the living room and accessing the plumbing through the wall. That will be much easier to patch, and being watertight won't be an issue.
