Well, I think I can figure this out, but would like to confirm a few things before I order parts.
Symtoms were water on the floor, somtimes a teaspoon or two, sometimes a quart! Took a look at it today, over at sisters house. Some water came out in lower left corner just as it the pump started on the cycle, but that was all. Thinking door gasket . But I took the lower panels off. Noticed a couple of things: a few drops of water were noticed on the plastic stem that comes down from the float. And the little rocker that activates the microswitch was stiff. I can move it with my hand, during the fill cycle and it turns the water on and off. But it is obvious that sometimes it doesn't kick off in time and the tub overfills, hence water out in the lower corner of door, etc.
QUESTIONS: (a) I am thinking that the drops coming down the float stem are just because it filled to high. I wouldn't think there is actually a seal on that???
(b) a little squirt of wd and the rocker is moving a little, but given that it is not an expensive part, and the consequences of not operating are possibly a LOT of water, I should just replace it all. OK on that?
I will replace the door seal just in case. Anything else here I should look at??
Thanks for the help.
