hi guys, I hope I'm not crashing your party by being a new guy. I admit I came here for this problem... so I'm going to try and avoid being the ignorant newbie who asks generic questions with no details

I have this Sharp Aquos LC-26SH20U that was given as a freebie because it has a major problem. The display is completely messed up in the color department.

Here's a picture of what I'm talking about.

Some random TV show (http://i38.************/2edp7p3.jpg)
Our beloved Flo from Progressive (http://i37.************/2r1zb5s.jpg)

At start up, it's all white, with white text "please wait"
The settings menus are also all wrong in colors.
Switching to an input with no signal gives also a white screen.
The colors of video are all messed up as seen in the above picture.
Nobody played with it in Service Mode
Color settings were reset to default, and any other mode doesn't make it better.. just different.

I have narrowed down the possible problem with the LCD controller PCB.

As seen in this picture, the controller PCB has 5 flex cables coming out of it going to the LCD. (http://i35.************/pt17d.jpg)
4 Flex cables going to the horizontal of the LCD
1 Flex cable going to the vertical side of the LCD
the bottom cable goes to HDMI board [which is connected to the main board]

Disconnecting any of the 4 HORIZONTAL flexes will blank out a vertical slide of the LCD. All good so far.

Disconnecting the VERTICAL flex cable does NOTHING to the quality of the picture.
Whatever's playing keeps on playing just like it did when the vertical flex was connected.

Is this a sign of what's causing the majorly funked colors? Is the vertical flex part of finalizing the colors?

I've looked closely at my controller board and I can't find any burnt or damaged components. (http://i34.************/9bhro2.jpg)

I've reconnected the vertical flex, jiggled it, nothing happens.

I'd buy a new controller board [as they are only 40$ + shipping], but I want to be more sure that the controller board is responsible for the lack of signal being sent to the vertical flex. I just find it weird that the horizontal flexes still work.

I hope I was detailed enough?

:D

Thanks for the help in advance!

I could not pull up your links, but it sounds like a digital controller board or the main board.Better to buy a new tv in any case.

Weird, I guess I can't post links here, or maybe I need a certain post count, but I cant find that information anywhere.

I'll post the links with a space before "com". Remove the space.

LCD control board

Here are demonstration pictures. Top is what appears on the LCD TV. Bottom is the original picture from my comptuter that I made display on the TV.

The image is the same whether or not the vertical IC board is connected to the LCD control board.

But if I disconnect the vertical IC board WHILE the TV is on, the video will freeze and black out slowly.
