Hello everyone,
I have a small bathroom that I am in the process of updating. It has an older bathroom fan that needs replacing. The bathroom is roughly 50 sqft, and judging by the guidelines from the vent fan manufacturers, I need a minimum of about 60 CFM. So far, I have only been looking at fans rated at around 1.0 sone. However, the closest match at the stores so far (home depot/lowes) is a 110 CFM 0.8 sone by Harbor Breeze.
My main concern is whether or not 110 CFMs is going to be outrageous for our bathroom (and an energy or safety concern). I will need to cut a slightly larger hole in the ceiling for this fan, so I want to be certain I am not making the wrong decision before I start modifying the existing structure.
Any pointers on this would be very much appreciated!

You should be fine as long as your vent pipe is sized to match. It will just evacuate the humidity faster.
I would highly suggest looking beyond whats in stock at the Box stores. Broan/NuTone has been around a long time and makes some good product. Panasonic has some really great fans as well. They cost a little more..but have much higher quality.
Harbor Breeze is the store brand for Lowes I believe, similar to Hampton Bay for HD?
