The remote was acting like the batteries were wearing out... not responding... then working... not responding. When it totally quit, and I finally put new batteries in, it won't work at all.
The batteries are fine, not reversed polarity, etc.
The wife got a universal remote, used all the codes, tried to search the code manually and also automatically, and nothing.
So am I correct to assume there is something wrong with the infrared receiver inside the TV?

It's possible the problem is in the set but more possible that the universal just won't work with it.Ordering the original remote is the only way to know.
