There is two fuses on this oven, one 15amp and the other is a 20amp.The 20 amp fuse is blowing soon after I turn on the selector knob to cook..Its a 1986 MOFFAT built in oven.Any help would be appreciated.

Both fuses should be the same amperage. What size wire? What is the wattage/amps of the oven? Most newer ovens require at least a 30a circuits on #10 but before we go further we need the oven nameplate data for voltage and amps.

Moffat built-in oven MODEL#MSB2454 I removed the oven from the cabinet but could not find a nameplate.I have the wiring diagram for this model along with the operating instructions if that can help you. This oven was troublefree for the last 25 years except for the occasional burnt elements,a bad selector control and replacing a few wires that looked suspicious.Remember that this oven is conventional, non electronics. Here's my story!my wife noticed sparks coming out of the socket where the 20 amp fuse screws in soon after she began cooking a chicken...this stove has a removable chrome plate hiding the two fuses at the base of the stove.I unscrew the 20 amp fuse then replaced by a new one, guess what! it blew.I looked inside the fuse socket and noticed burnt marks, cleaned the connector end with sandpaper to make it shiny then screw in a new fuse with no success.Do you think I need a new stove or is this fixable?
