Bot this new Toshiba laptop with Vista, loaded with so much junk. How do I get rid of Google toolbar and so much of the junk running in the bakground? It's so bad that my cursor is wild and all over the place. I can't stop it from running all over.
I installed ZoneAlarm and Ad-Aware.

Toshiba Satellite L305
Windows Firefox 3.5
Intel Core 2 Duo Processor
3GB SDRAM

Control panel > Programs > Uninstall Program

Then find Norton and Google.

Thanks for the reply. That's easy enuf to do.

What about all the extra's that came with this laptop, do I treat them the same?

Pretty much. I just wouldn't delete anything that says "Microsoft" though. I hate all that crap they load onto computers.

My sis bot the exact same laptop and she got a computer person to extract lots of junk; she said it took him 3 hrs to get rid of junk and now it runs so much faster. I am hoping I can do the same thing.

Norton has on their website a removal utility. Apparently, add/remove programs isn't quite enough to get everything.

Good luck!

And as far as the cursor running all over the place, my wife has the same computer, and if you don't keep your finger on the pad area (not too well defined on a Toshiba), the cursor will jump to the side of the page. Once you have figured out the parameters of the touch pad you will do fine. Or, get a wireless mouse.

You can also uninstall the Toshiba software for the touchpad if it gets quirky (can't remember right off what the program name is and my laptop is a Toshiba :o) and let Windows control the pad. I was pleasantly surprised that when we had to replace college daughter's machine last month, it had much less free trial crap than usual and it was a Toshiba, too. :coffee:
