Hi, I've been having some problems with the phone lines in my house and the trouble light has been lit on my alarm system since the problem started. The keypad shows the trouble as 3&4; the telephone line and failure to communicate.
I'm not sure if the system is the cause of the problem or just being affected by it, but I opened up the system's panel to check the connections and tripped the alarm.
Now that I've shut the panel again, the lcd keypad says the system is not secure and refuses to re-arm. Also the Alarm History shows the last alarm as "Panel".
I'm pretty sure the panel door is closed properly so unless there's some special tamper switch that needs resetting I don't understand what the problem is?
I appreciate the help.
Edd

Sadly, yes, you seem to have been caught by one of the notorious "booby traps" that many UK installers seem to be overly fond of.
The door switch trips a latching tamper that can only be cleared by entering system programming and then exiting.
You need the installer/engineer code, which previous posts from the UK have led me to believe that the installer (most commonly British Gas, as I understand) is _not_ obligated to give you. They also enable the installer lockout feature, so defaulting the panel doesn't help either.
Basically your choice is to call them for service, or replace the motherboard. Or try a lucky guess at the installer code (I have heard that 9448 is one that they have used in the past)
For the phone line issue, fix the phones, and the trouble should go away. Hopefully no one has disconnected the alarm's line siezure connections from your telco demark.
