A chunk of the laminate that was glued to the edge of the counter came off some time before I purchased the home. There are no remnants left for me to use to patch the damaged edge.
Are there any other options to replace/repair this piece of the laminate that is missing from the edge? Here is a picture:

That looks like a pretty common laminate pattern....I'll bet a good counter fabricator could match it exactly.

Cheat check Home Depot or Lowes or any other place that sell DIY counter tops. This is and end strip for a post formed top. When you buy a counter top you also need to but the end strip that's why they all will sell it. Use a heat gun to remove the old strip. You might also need a router with a laminate cutter bit to get a clean edge on the new one a file would work also.

Don't limit yourself to the big box stores. Go on line and Google laminate manufactuers (Wilsonart is one). They have samples of their products on line. When you find a match any of the big boxes will order an end strip for you.
If you can buy an end strip all you will need is some contact cement although some strips come with adhesive.
